After a week in which many had questioned Louis van Gaal's ability to
get to grips with the Premier League, the club produced arguably their
finest performance in the division since the departure of Sir Alex
Ferguson.
They scored three very good first-half goals and played with a rhythm and comfort that thrilled the Old Trafford crowd and reminded them why so much faith has been placed in the Dutchman.
Spurs were unaccountably poor, yet they were also cowed by the relentless nature of United's attacks -- a showing that was extremely encouraging given the tough run of fixtures with which United will end the season.
