Alexis Sanchez brace put gunners through to wembley for the second time running but the Gunners were forced into extra-time before emerging victorious.
The Gunners enjoyed lots of possession at the early stage, but Reading defended well in numbers.
Arsene
Wenger's men were given an injury scare in the 29th minute when Laurent
Koscielny was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Jamie
Mackie.
Replays seemed to suggest Mackie may have unintentionally hit Koscielny in the face with his arm.
Arsenal took the lead in the 39th
minute when Sanchez was picked out by a brilliant Mesut Ozil delivery
and he slotted through the legs of Adam Federici for his 21st goal of
the season.
However, Reading equalised seven minutes after the
restart when Garath McCleary's volley was spilled over the line by
Wojciech Szczesny.
Despite the Polish shot stopper's blunder, Arsenal pushed for a winner.
Though
they were forced into extra time, Sanchez hit the Gunners' second and
the match winner when his shot squirmed under Federici.
