Surrey Police has confirmed that 31-year-old Crystal Palace attacker Jason Puncheon has been taken into custody in the early hours of the morning after officers were called to a disturbance in Church Street, Reigate.
Puncheon, who had attended a nearby nightclub prior to the incident, is set to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on January 5 after being released on bail.
He has not played for Palace since the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, having been left out of their last two matchday squads.
"Jason Puncheon of Kingswood, has been charged with a Section 4 public order offence causing fear or provocation of violence, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault," a police spokesman said.
