Daniel Sturridge's 100th Club Career Goal Helped Liverpool Overcome Huddersfield

Mohamed Salah saw his first-half penalty saved by Jonas Lossl (42) as a defensive Huddersfield side frustrated the hosts at Anfield.

However, Sturridge capitalised on a Tommy Smith error (50) to steer Liverpool towards their first league victory since September.

Liverpool turned on the style as the Huddersfield defence opened up, and Roberto Firmino's header (58) and a superb Georginio Wijnaldum strike (75) ultimately put the game beyond the visitors.

20' Twenty minutes in and we're yet to see a shot on target at Anfield. All a bit too quiet for Klopp's liking. His side are biding their time, looking to find the gaps, but it's a watertight Huddersfield defence so far.

42' PENALTY SAVED! Salah doesn't quite find the corner with his spot-kick and Lossl dives to his left to keep out the effort...

OFF THE POST! The ball flies into the air and it's Henderson who meets the rebound, but his volley skims the post!

50' GOAL! LIVERPOOL 1-0 HUDDERSFIELD (Sturridge)

Liverpool have taken the lead! And they have Huddersfield captain Smith to thank...

A ball over the top is headed backwards by Smith into the path of Sturridge, who calmly lifts his effort round the onrushing Lossl.

Perfect start to the second half for the hosts.

58' GOAL! LIVERPOOL 2-0 HUDDERSFIELD (Firmino)

Zanka's vital interception prevents Sturridge from tapping in his second, but it doesn't matter as Liverpool score from the resulting corner...

It's all too easy for Firmino as he meets it at the near post to head the hosts into a two-goal lead. The intensity has gone up from Liverpool this half, and they have been rewarded for their efforts.

75' GOAL! LIVERPOOL 3-0 HUDDERSFIELD (Wijnaldum)

Liverpool are cruising and it's the pick of the bunch from the Gini.

Salah lays it back for Wijnaldum, who takes a couple of touches before rifling his effort into the top corner.

The Dutchman just loves scoring league goals at Anfield! Mainly because he still hasn't scored one away for the Reds...
