Arsene Wenger is My Idol – Thomas Tuchel

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel has named former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as his "idol and role model" but insisted he did not want to succeed the Frenchman at Emirates Stadium.

Tuchel was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal before Wenger announced in April that he would leave at the end of last season, but the former Borussia Dortmund boss had already decided to join PSG by the time the vacancy in North London arose.

The German coach denied any knowledge of plans to take him to Arsenal but expressed his admiration for the legacy Wenger left at the club.

"I made my decision before Wenger made his decision," Tuchel told reporters ahead of PSG's clash with Arsenal in the International Champions Cup.

"My biggest respect for him. He built the club famously for their style of football.

"He is an idol and role model for every coach and for me especially.

"I never got in touch and I made the decision for Paris before. I don’t know if I was ever meant to be the successor. So [there was] no question."

Tuchel said he was keen to speak to new Arsenal manager Unai Emery about his time at the Parc des Princes, where he won the Ligue 1 title, two Coupe de France trophies, two Coupe de la Ligue trophies in his two seasons at the club.

Tuchel's only managerial honour to date is the DFB-Pokal, which he won with Dortmund in 2016-17, and he would relish the opportunity to discuss tactics with Emery.

"I would like to talk to him," said Tuchel. "I never did that with any of my previous jobs [speak with the previous manager].

"Unai is one of the most successful coaches in Europe. He has won lot of titles last year.

"He sent me a warm message. I was very thankful and it shows his character and the competitor that he is.

"I would love to talk about football with him in detail."

BREAKING: Emery Denied Reports That Neymar is to Undergo Operatio

Paris Saint-Germain Coach Unai Emery has blasted ‘false reports’ that Neymar needs to undergo surgery for an ankle injury.

Reports in Marca on Tuesday stated the Brazilian would be out of action for two months – and miss the Real Madrid tie – due to the injury, yet Emery has called those out as incorrect.

“The reports Neymar will undergo surgery are totally false,” Emery told a press conference, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“Today I met with the doctor and he told me of the full extent of the injury and the decisions to be taken regarding his recovery.

“We will see how he progresses before making a decision, and that will be made with the player himself.

“For now, we are calm and are waiting to see how Neymar recovers – if he does, that’s fantastic and if not, we have alternatives.”

The 25-year-old sustained a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle after being injured in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1.

PSG Agreed To Sell Neymar To Real Madrid on One Condition (GOAL)

The Brazilian remains a top transfer target for the Liga giants and will be granted a move if he can help to deliver European success in France

Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to let Neymar join Real Madrid this summer if he helps the club to Champions League success, Goal understands.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has promised the Brazil international that he will be granted permission to return to Spain if European glory is delivered in the French capital.

Over recent weeks, the 25-year-old has confided in those closest to him that he dreams of returning to Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Neymar only left La Liga in the summer of 2017 as a record-breaking €222 million transfer carried him to Paris from Barcelona.

He is enjoying his time at Parc des Princes, with 24 goals recorded in just 23 appearances, but has made no secret of his desire to become a leading figure at Real.

The Blancos consider him to be the ideal heir to Cristiano Ronaldo, with the 32-year-old Portuguese being mentioned as a possible makeweight in a move for Neymar despite boasting countless records at the Bernabeu.

Neymar would relish taking on such a role, having harboured ambitions of representing Real since being in his early teens.

He spent 20 days on trial with the reigning La Liga champions back in 2006 , when he was just 13, and came close to securing a switch in 2013 following talks with Florentino Perez.

Barcelona eventually swooped to scupper those plans, but Real have refused to give up on a long-standing target.

Perez has remained vocal in his desire to get a deal done, with the Blancos president having urged Neymar to chase his Ballon d’Or dream with the Spanish giants .

He told reporters after seeing Ronaldo claim that particular prize for a fifth time in December 2017: “Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d'Or.

“Real Madrid is a club which gives all you need as a big player, everyone knows that I already wanted to sign him at one point.”

Real could soon get their wish, despite Neymar being tied to a contract at PSG which is due to run until the summer of 2022.

There is no release clause in his current deal , such as the one triggered upon his exit from Camp Nou, with French football’s governing body (LFP) prohibiting such stipulations.

Any agreement with Madrid is therefore dependent on Al-Khelaifi giving the green light.

He is prepared to do that, but only if Neymar can help PSG to fulfil their ultimate ambition of claiming a Champions League triumph.

They have reached the last-32 stage of this season’s competition, where they are due to face Real, with the Ligue 1 leaders heavily fancied to mount a serious challenge for the continental crown.

PSG Have Made Pep Guardiola Their Top Managerial Target

Paris Saint-Germain have made Pep Guardiola their top managerial target and want him in place by next summer.

Guardiola's contract at Manchester City expires next year and PSG are understood to be doing everything they can to hire the 47-year-old.

The Mirror report that Guardiola is the club's prime target to succeed manager Unai Emery.

PSG demonstrated their financial muscle last summer when they signed Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Guardiola, however, seemed focused on the task in hand as he took City's first-team training on Friday.

The Premier League leaders are back in action against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

I Prefer Fekir to Neymar' - Lyon president Aulas

Jean-Michel Aulas is famously outspoken in his critiquing of PSG and the Lyon president prefers Nabil Fekir to Brazil superstar Neymar.

Lyon star Nabil Fekir is better than Neymar according to club president Jean-Michel Aulas.

Ligue 1 leaders PSG travel to Lyon on Sunday and the famously outspoken Aulas has again been stoking the fires of the rivalry.

Neymar has scored 15 times in France's top flight since joining for a world-record €222m from Barcelona in August, including a four-goal haul in the 8-0 demolition of Dijon during midweek.

France international Fekir also has 15 to his name this term and Aulas, whose club lie third and 11 points shy of PSG, would not swap his man for the Brazil superstar.

"I was already watching PSG without Neymar, inevitably he brings something more," he told Le Figaro.

"I prefer Nabil to Neymar. Do not put that in the title because Neymar will want to prove the opposite on Sunday against us!

"Nabil is our little Neymar. And [Bertrand] Traore looks a lot like Neymar in his dribbling, his way of accelerating.

"We are not outdone at OL [Lyon], with our means."

Aulas has resumed his customary theme of criticising PSG's lavish spending this week, prompting the capital club to tweet accusing him of "fake news" on Friday.

Asked about his motivations for persistently commenting on the Qatari-owned club, Aulas replied: "Do not mix everything up. On the one hand, there is a match between OL and PSG, and on the other, a battle of ideas between a sustainable economy of football, ours, and an economy, I would say, a little artificial.

"On the one hand, there are private investors who put in their own money with liberal competition rules and, on the other hand, an anomaly with state funds investing in much larger proportions.

"The budget of the first, PSG, is of the order of €800m and four times higher than that of the second, OL. And we play in the same competition."

Aulas also voiced concerns over PSG essentially ringfencing one of Ligue 1's Champions League spots with their financial might but he will be in their corner when they face Real Madrid in the last 16 next month.

"I applaud PSG with both hands," he added. "Against Real Madrid in the Champions League, even though their president Florentino Perez is a friend, I will obviously be a supporter of PSG.

"[PSG president] Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] is a super good guy, a quality leader. He is rich, handsome, young, intelligent.

"My reluctance does not concern him but the model in which he fits."

Juventus Ready To Sign Striker Cavani From PSG

Juventus are ready to offer Edinson Cavani a way out of his Paris Saint-Germain contract following more controversy with world-record signing Neymar.

The Brazilian has been accused of putting himself before the team once again, after deciding not to give Cavani the chance to become the club's leading top goalscorer from the penalty spot in their 8-0 drubbing over Dijon.

Neymar was met with boos after taking the penalty himself to score his fourth goal on Wednesday night, in what was a impressive performance by the 25-year-old.

According to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, the 30-year-old can 'no longer stay with the French side' and has already decided on 'finding a new club'.

They claim Juventus are ready to snap up the former Napoli man and want to bring him back to the Serie A.

The Uruguay international still has two years left on his current contract, after he signed a contract extension back in April last year.

A price for the prolific attacker is  yet to be decided and it still remains to be seen whether the French club want to sell  the one of their key men.

It isn't the first time Cavani has been linked with a move away following a clash with Neymar.

In September, the pair had a visible disagreement over who should be on set-piece duty during their victory over Lyon.

Hours later, however, reports surfaced, claiming the duo had to be separated in the dressing room. One newspaper claimed Neymar had told Khelaifi his 'coexistence with Cavani is totally impossible and he has asked for the transfer of the Uruguayan striker.'

And while there has been no reported bust-up between the pair following Neymar's reluctance to give Cavani the penalty on Wednesday, Juventus will be on standby for when it inevitably happens again.

I Would Love To Manage PSG - Mancini

PSG currently have an 11-point lead in Ligue 1, but manager Unai Emery could well be out of a job should they fail to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.

"I would love to be the coach of PSG," Mancini, currently in charge of Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg, told L'Equipe. "And why not, if that were possible?

"You can be a good coach who has done fine work, but we all know that in football everything can change in one day.

"I've never been contacted, though. I don't know the future. PSG have a good coach in place with fantastic players. All coaches would love to work with such a team, that is only normal.

"PSG have one of the best sides in the world. They've got Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, so have a good chance of winning the Champions League and not just this season, but for the next two or three years."

Trapp Wants January Exit

Trapp, the Germany international was a first-team regular in his first two seasons at Parc des Princes following his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2015.

But the emergence of PSG youth product Alphonse Areola this term has seen Trapp manage just three appearances in all competitions, leading to speculation that he could be on the move next month.

The 24-year-old has been linked with Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Liverpool, with his representative saying they are open to a potential transfer.

"If there's a chance in the winter, Kevin wants to leave Paris," Jorg Neubauer told Sport 1.

Reports in France claim that PSG would be willing to part with Trapp for a fee of around €15 million - €5m more than what they paid the Eagles for his services 18 months ago.

Pastore Denies PSG Exit Rumour

Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are vying for PSG Pastore, the Argentina international has been subject to transfers in top european clubs as the January transfer window looms.

And due to the fierce competition for an attacking role in Unai Emery's side, French media claimed Pastore was keen on leaving Parc des Princes.

But the 28-year-old told Mundo Deportivo: "It's a lie to say that I have said goodbye to my team-mates. I've always thought about playing for this club and doing the best I can every time.

"In recent games, I've played a lot and I'm happy. I still have a year-and-a-half contract, and I'm very calm.

"I was looking for more playing time, it's true. The coach makes the decisions and I have to make sure to keep improving to get some PSG playing time."

Pastore has scored four goals in 13 league games for the Ligue 1 leaders this season.

January Arrivals Unlikely - Emery

The Ligue 1 leaders currently hold a nine-point gap over second-placed AS Monaco after 18 rounds and impressed during their Champions League group stage matches - edging Bayern Munich to top-spot in Group B.

After scoring 25 goals in the six group games, PSG have been tipped as favorites for the elite club competition due to their attacking force of Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Neymar, although without veteran Thiago Motta due to injury Les Parisien have lacked cover in the defensive midfield role.

However, 21-year-old midfielder Giovani Lo Celso stepped in with good effect with a composed display alongside Julian Draxler and Marco Verratti in the 4-1 victory over in-form AS Rennes on Saturday,

"When a player like Thiago Motta is absent, a pure defensive midfielder, well perhaps that's a position where we could improve," he told the club's website after failing to secure a clean sheet for the fifth successive fixture. "I say that even if those who have filled in have done well, like Giovani Lo Celso on Saturday.

"For now we have no reason to sign anybody in the winter window. We have seven midfielders and in recent weeks when Thiago Motta and Adrien Rabiot have been hurt, Giovani Lo Celso has performed well."

PSG have been strongly linked with Wendel of Fluminense over the last two months but their sporting director Antero Henrique reiterated Emery's comments in an interview posted in Le Parisien on Monday.

"Wendel is a player we know very well, but he won't come in January. If we decide to conclude the transfer it will be for July."

PSG Ready to Sell Di Maria in Jan Transfer After Being Told to Raise £70m by UEFA

Paris Saint-Germain are expecting to raise £70million in revenue to meet Financial Fair Play requirements.

The big spending French club met with UEFA auditors last month to explain their finances after signing Neymar for £198m and Kylian Mbappe for a potential £165m.

PSG expect to sell Angel Di Maria and Lucas Moura in January but will also look to attract new sponsorships from America plus TV deals.

With Premier League clubs spending over £1bn in the summer, PSG will hope to attract interest from English clubs, but Di Maria's failed spell at Manchester United and large wage demands is likely to count against him.

The Argentine briefly became a British record signing in 2014 after moving to Old Trafford from Real Madrid, but failed to settle in Manchester. In an effort to get out of the club, Di Maria failed to report to Louis van Gaal's squad for a pre-season tour and was soon sold.

Lucas turned down a number of Premier League clubs, including United, in order to make the move to Parc des Princes in 2012, but has since failed to fulfil the early promise that attracted Sir Alex Ferguson.

PSG are unlikely to get the required funds from clubs outside of the Premier League and may have to rely on new sponsorship deals and increased revenue from growing TV audiences.

A complex loan agreement with Monaco allowed them to bring Mbappe to the club this summer, but they are committed to paying the huge £165m sum at the end of the season.

How Mourinho uses PSG interest to pressure Manchester United

After Manchester United's dismal defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, stories about Jose Mourinho would emerge once again, after having previously been linked with a switch to Paris Saint-Germain it seems he is using this interest to pressure his current employers.

Mourinho's current Old Trafford contract only runs until June 2019 and there is a sense that the former Real Madrid coach would like an improved deal as he continues his job of placing United back at the forefront of English football.

According to a report in The Sun, Jorge Mendes has held informal talks with the French giants about the 54-year-old taking over at the Parc des Princes at some point in the future.

The aforementioned report suggests that these talks are all part of a coherent strategy from the Mendes camp to put pressure on Ed Woodward and Co. with regards to handing the Portuguese coach a salary increase.

All is not well for the tactician at Carrington, he is witnessing Pep Guardiola's Manchester City play some of the finest football England has ever seen and is coming in for criticism from sections of his own fanbase for his perceived negative tactics in big matches.

Failing to sign Ivan Perisic in the summer is known to have left Mourinho disappointed. Looking across at Guardiola being given over 100 million euros to spend on three full-backs, he is not being allowed to spend 45m euros on a player he sees as pivotal to the season's success.

Just how important this kyboshed deal is to the coach is not known fully, yet it is clear he will want reinforcements in January.

Another facet of the campaign to pressure the Old Trafford club is to try and get the funding for January signings. It may well be that the 2017/18 championship is Manchester City's to lose, but it can't hurt Mourinho to begin his preparations for the next campaign early.

Generally, it is hard to suggest the former Porto coach has done anything other than a fine job with the Red Devils, in his debut season he took a team that was on its knees to glory in both the League Cup and Europa League.

In his second season he currently sits second in the Premier League and is all-but qualified for the Champions League knockout phase after four matches; it is worth remembering United haven't been in that position since David Moyes was coach in 2013/14.

It is understandable that he would want an increase in pay, although very few individuals have taken on Manchester United over the years and remained in place.
