Arteta Keen On John Stones

Arsenal have asked Manchester City to keep them informed on the availability of John Stones, according to 90Min.

John Stones has 18 months left on his current contract at the Etihad, with the English centre-back currently facing fierce competition for places at City, alongside Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake.

So far this season, the 26-year-old has made three appearances in the Premier League - including a start in the 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Arteta is a big admirer of the former Everton defender, the report states, with his on-the-ball ability a big appeal to the Arsenal boss.

Duo Responsible For Derby Defeat At Whitehart Lane

Arsenal midfield Enforcer Thomas Partey has been at the center of blame by Sky Sports pundits Alex Scott and Graeme Souness for walking off the pitch shortly before Tottenham's second goal in the 2-0 north London derby win.

Tottenham top goal poacher Harry Kane fired home from close range before half-time whistle to double the lead after Son had opened the scoring15 minutes after the start.

Partey, who had been struggling with a thigh injury for a number of weeks, limped over with Arsenal in possession, but it meant he left a huge gap in the midfield for Giovani Lo Celso to stroll into as Spurs regained the ball and launched a counter attack.

The Argentina international then found Kane who finished past the Arsenal goal keeper Bernd Leno to put Spurs in a comfortable advantage at half time.

Scott, who made 140 appearances for the English Women's National team during her career, slammed Partey's decision to leave his position, highlighting the role he played in handing the hosts their second goal.

"You always have to think of defence in attack," she told Sky Sports during the half-time break.

"To be exposed like this, four vs two should never happen. This is how Spurs have been all season.

Arsenal 'In Advanced Talks For Philippe Coutinho Swap Deal

Arsenal are in talks with Barcelona over a proposed deal for Philippe Coutinho which could involve Matteo Guendouzi moving the other way.

Phillipe Coutinho has been in the frame of transfer lately, he's poised for a return to the Premier League ahead of next summer, with the former Liverpool attacker surplus to requirements at Camp Nou.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester City and Newcastle United have all been linked with the 28-year-old, as well as FA Cup hopefuls Arsenal.

Matteo Guendouzi's Emirates future in doubt after the midfielder was dropped by boss Mikel Arteta following his antics against Brighton last month against Maupay.

Arsenal and Barcelona are in talks over a swap deal involving the two players, according to Foot Mercato.

The publication says Arsenal technical director Edu has long courted Coutinho, while Guendouzi has been held in similar esteem by Barcelona chiefs.

Barcelona are keen to get Coutinho off the wage bill with the midfielder having failed to hit the heights he enjoyed at Liverpool since his transfer to Catalonia in January 2018.

The Brazilian is contracted to Barcelona until 2023.

In a straight cash deal he would cost upwards of £60million, which would be a stretch for Arsenal given the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, with Arteta having been told he must sell before he can buy this summer.

Therefore, the Gunners boss must find more creative solutions - and a swap between Coutinho and Guendouzi is likely after the French midfielder was left out of the squad for Arsenal's last eight games.

Arsenal's priority this summer is signing defenders and then holding midfielders.

However, the Gunners have an unusual relationship with Coutinho via his agent which could help engineer the move.

Kia Joorabchian is an Arsenal fan and is good friends with Edu. He also represents Gunners defenders David Luiz and Cedric Soares.

It remains to be seen whether Joorabchian's relationship with Arsenal and Coutinho's desire to return to the Premier League come together for what would be one of the most sensational transfers of the summer.

Arsenal Keeps Ceballos, Signs Cedric Soares And Pablo Mari On A Permanent Deal

Arsenal have confirmed they are making Pablo Mari's transfer permanent.

£8million transfer option has been the hit as well as tying down David Luiz to a new one-year contract.

Cedric Soares, the Portuguese international who is still yet to kick start a game for the club despite arriving in January, has also signed a "long-term deal", while Dani Ceballos' loan from Real Madrid has been extended till the end of the current season.

The quartet were due to leave the Emirates Stadium on July 1, with their contracts set to expire next week.

All will now remain, most notably Mari, whose loan deal from Flamengo has been made permanent, and ex-Chelsea defender Luiz, who has found himself under fire from fans after his recent red card against Manchester City.

The Brazilian's one-year option had initially not been taken up by the club.

But with both he and Arteta keen for him to remain, a new deal, on slightly reduced terms, has been cut.

“With Pablo we’re all disappointed he got injured at Manchester City. Since Mikel arrived here he was asking for a central defender who was left-footed.

"We were really pleased with Pablo - his behaviour, the way he is training, his mentality and his quality.

"Unfortunately, he has that injury but of course we are really happy to keep him for the future."

Portugal full-back Cedric, part of their Euro 2016-winning side, arrived in North London from Southampton in January on a free transfer.

Injuries mean he is yet to feature for the club since his arrival, but the 28-year-old is understood to have been handed a four-year contract.

It's hoped he will challenge Hector Bellerin for the right-back spot next term.

“Cedric is also going to be an important player," added Edu. "He has been unlucky with the injuries but he is close to being ready and gives us more strength in the right-back position.

"We’re also pleased Dani will finish the season here.

"He is making a good contribution and we look forward to him having a strong finish to the season.”

Morgan Recalls How He Adviced Gunners To Appoint Jorgen Klopp Five Years Ago

Under the shrewd managerial competence of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool lifted their first league title in 30 years after Manchester City's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea left them trailing by 23 points with seven games still to play.

As a result, Liverpool are crowned champions of England, Europe and the world but Morgan was left in dejection at the thought it could have been Arsenal jubilating if they had listened to his advice five years ago.

Klopp was still in charge of his previous side Borussia Dortmund as at that period but had already announced his intentions to leave the German side at the end of the season, thus effectively becoming a free agent in the summer.

Already at that point Klopp was considered one of the biggest managers in Europe having landed back-to-back Bundesliga titles with Dortmund, including a league and cup double in 2012, against a vastly more resourceful and rich Bayern Munich outfit.

'Arsenal would be perfect for Jurgen Klopp - and he would be perfect for Arsenal. Sign him.

'If we don't sign Klopp, he will go to another top club and win trophies. The guy's a dynamic, driven young winner.

'Two league titles in last five years against one of the greatest Bayern sides ever - and some Arsenal fans don't think Klopp's good enough? Wow.

'Klopp would be our Mourinho. The time has come, Arsenal - act. #KloppIN'.

Despite his predictions over his future success coming true, Arsenal failed to act and stuck with Arsene Wenger for another three seasons.

Although they went on to win two additional FA Cups under the Frenchman, they also dropped out of the Champions League in 2017 and have not returned since.

The Gunners now currently sit ninth in the Premier League table with just half the points of Liverpool under new boss Mikel Arteta following the sacking earlier in the season of Wenger's eventual successor Unai Emery.

Klopp spent five months out of the game after leaving Dortmund, before being appointed Liverpool boss in 2015 following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers. The rest as they say is history.

Sheffield United Optimistic On Gunning Down Arsenal At The Bramall

Sheffield United Boss Chris Wilder  speaks Ahead of Arsenal's FA cup quarter final trip to the Bramall Lane.

He recollected Arsenal's legend Nwankwo Kanu's controversial assist for Marc Overmars' goal when both teams met in the competition back in February 1999.

Alan Kelly's clearance was put into touch for Sheffield United striker Lee Morris to be attended to at the other end of the pitch.

Arsenal legendary midfielder Ray Parlour intended to give the ball back with his throw-in as it's the convention but Nwankwo Kanu, eleven minutes into his debut, misunderstood the situation and Marc Overmar's instinctive reaction was to score with ten minutes remaining.

The Gunners coached by Arsene Wenger decided on a sporting solution and offered a rematch which was again won by them.

"There have been a couple of instances against Arsenal in the Cup, the one at the old Highbury ground when Kanu decided to go his own way," the Sheffield United coach was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

"That was quite an interesting afternoon! I was at that game.

I went to a lot of Sheffield United games.

"I must have been dropped so many times when I was at Rotherham, Bradford and Notts County to allow me to go to all these games!"Games against Arsenal, we’ve had a decent run at it.

They’ve been very, very intense and quite tight.

I’m not expecting anything different on Sunday and yeah, it would be great to win this time.

" A two-time African Footballer of the Year, Kanu won the FA Cup three times during his playing days in England.

Arsenal In Advanced Talk To Sign Norwegian Winger George Lewis

Arsenal are in race to sign teenage Norwegian sensation winger, George Lewis.

The 19-year-old spent a fortnight on trial with the Gunners earlier in the year and did enough during his spell to convince the north London club into pursuing a permanent deal.

Lewis is currently a free agent having spent the past few years playing in the lower leagues of Norwegian football.

Goal.com has learned that should the transfer go through, Lewis will link up with Steve Bould’s Under-23s at Arsenal, rather than follow the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Matteo Guendouzi, who have immediately made the step up to the senior side in recent years following moves from abroad.

Lewis who was born in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, started his career in the youth ranks of Norwegian club Tromso IL before moving to third tier side Tromsdalen in 2017 - where he signed his first professional contract.

A brief move to Fram Larvik, who also play in Norway’s third tier, followed in 2019, but Lewis is now a free agent and has spent some time in the past year with Ipswich.

Arsenal invited the young attacker for a week-long trial in March and having impressed with his versatility in attacking areas, he was kept on for a further seven days.

And the north London club are now pursuing a permanent deal for the right winger, who can play across the forward line.

Like all clubs, Arsenal are expected to have a relatively quiet summer in the transfer market due to the ongoing financial implications caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Arteta is looking to strengthen his senior squad, but the Spaniard accepts that the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 outbreak means cash will be hard to come by.

One player Arsenal could look to move on to raise some funds is Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has spent the season on loan with Roma in Serie A.

On Tuesday, Italian newspaper the Corriere dello Sport reported than Mkhitaryan wanted to make the move permanent and quoted him as saying: “My time in London is over. I hope you [Arsenal] manage to find an agreement with Rome because my desire is to stay.”

But the 31-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, has now refuted those claims.

Taking to social media, Raiola said: “Mkhitaryan did not send any message to Arsenal. Specially in times like these, fake news are completely unacceptable.”

The Armenia international is approaching the final year of his contract with the Gunners.

Arsenal Offered Inter Sensational Striker Mauro Icardi In A Swap Deal For Aubameyang

Inter Sensational Mauro Icardi is being used as a bait to price top Arsenal asset Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang away from the Emirates according to reports in Italy.

The Arsenal captain has little left on his contract at the Emirates, and the north London club could be forced to sell him rather than risk losing him for nothing in 12 months.

This has raised the prospect of a swap deal with Inter Milan to bring Icardi in as a direct replacement for the Gabonese star, claim Tuttosport.

Icardi has no future at the San Siro and despite impressing on loan at Paris Saint-Germain this season, there are doubts he will stay in Ligue 1 permanently.

The 27-year-old has 20 goals in 31 appearances, while Aubameyang has returned the same number in just one game more.

Last year Arsenal lost Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer to Juventus and will be desperate to avoid a similar situation with their star player.

Aubameyang has been prolific in the Premier League since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.

He has scored 61 goals in 97 appearances, has quickly become a fan favourite and shared the Golden Boot last season with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Arsenal Closing In On Ex Man City Defender Pablo Mari

Arsenal are edging closer to completing a deal for the Flamengo centre-back Pablo Mari, after the 26-year-old was apparently spotted with Gunners technical director Edu.

Spaniard Mari is familiar to Gunners boss Mikel Arteta having been on the books at Manchester City for three years, although he never played a first-team game for the club.

He was immediately loaned out to City's sister club Girona upon signing in 2016, and then departed on further loan spells to NAC Breda in the Netherlands and Deportivo La Coruna back home in Spain.

Mari joined Brazilian side Flamengo in July last year for around £1million, and he has been a key figure in manager Jorge Jesus' side.

He played 30 times in the 2019 season, and was in the Flamengo team that lost 1-0 to Liverpool after extra-time in the Club World Cup final in Qatar last month.

Globo Esporte in Brazil claim that the deal to sell Mari to the Gunners is now 'well under way', with the transfer set to cost around £7million after he was spotted with Edu preparing to fly to London.

Arteta has made strengthening the Gunners' defence a key priority ever since he arrived as head coach last month.

His side have kept two clean sheets in his seven games in charge, and he saw David Luiz sent off in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday.

The Brazilian will now serve a suspension, and with Calum Chambers out with a long-term ACL injury, Sokratis Papastahopoulos suffering with a recent bout of illness and questions over the form and future of Shkodran Mustafi, Arteta has been forced to look into the transfer market.

The Gunners are next in action at Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday.

Arsenal Blocked Dani Ceballos From Emirates Exit

Ceballos wants to leave Arsenal so as not to scupper his chances of playing in the Euros but they don't want him to leave and Real Madrid won't get involved.

Dani Cabellos wants to leave Arsenal and end his loan deal in London. A deal to get the Real Madrid player out of the Premier League remains complicated, however, and Arsenal have told the player and his parent club, Real Madrid, that they will not let him leave in this transfer window. The midfielder is not in Mikel Arteta's plans (he is yet to play a single minute since the new manager took over) but the club's board think he could still become an important player.

The situation is complicated because the decision to leave the club was made by Ceballos and Ceballos alone. Unai Emery was the man who requested his sercives and Real Madrid wanted to let the player leave with Zidane not counting on him either.

Ceballos negotiated his contract with Arsenal and signed a deal that would see him leave the Emirates at the end of the season. Real Madrid believe this is a situation that he needs to resolve himself and have left it between Arsenal and him to figure out. It's a different situation to that of Jesus Vallejo, who is set to join Granada, with Real Madrid getting involved and recommending that he leave Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santos was not counting on the defender and an agreement was reached.

There is still time left in the transfer market but Arsenal don't look like they'll change their minds on the issue. Madrid won't pressure them either as the clubs maintain an excellent relationship and they do not want that to change. They are worried about Ceballos situation but it was his decision to set off for London and it is his job to fight for a place there.

Ceballos is concerned for his place in Spain's Euro squad. He left Madrid in order to get minutes so that he could play at the tournament but with the change of manager at Arsenal, things have taken a radical twist. Valencia want to offer him a way out with a loan deal but Arsenal aren't for turning.

Eddie Nketia To Remain At The Emirates

The 20-year-old was in talks with Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday but will stay in north London

Eddie Nketiah will remain at Arsenal for the rest of the season despite several loan offers from the Championship, sources have confirmed to Goal.

The 20-year-old striker scored five goals in 19 appearances while on loan with Leeds in the first half of the season, and it was expected that he would go back on another loan for the second part of 2019-20.

Championship clubs Bristol CityNottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday all held talks over a short-term deal for Nketiah, but the striker will not be returning to the English second tier this season.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been impressed with Nketiah's attitude in training and has decided that he wants to keep hold of him for the remainder of the season.

Nketiah saw game time with the Gunners' senior side last season as the academy product made nine total appearances, including three starts, and scored against Burnley on the final day of the Premier League season.

The striker made his first-team breakthrough the previous season, as he made 10 total appearances with the Gunners in the 2017-18 campaign.

There could be a chance for Nketiah to see minutes straight away, as star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will miss three matches after Arsenal's appeal to have his red card at Crystal Palace overturned was unsuccessful.

Aubameyang's suspension will see him miss Saturday's Premier League match against Sheffield United, a derby clash with Chelsea three days later and an FA Cup tie against Bournemouth.

Alexandre Lacazette is also struggling for form as the Frenchman has failed to score in six consecutive appearances, which could hand an opportunity to Nketiah.

The Gunners are looking to turn their season around under Arteta, who took over from the sacked Unai Emery in December.

Arsenal have won two, drawn one and lost one in four matches under Arteta, with the club up to 10th in the Premier League table.

The Gunners are 11 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea as they look to avoid a fourth consecutive season without Champions League football.

Outside of a top-four finish, Arsenal can qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League, with the club set to face Olimpiacos in the last 32 next month.

Arsenal In Layvin Kurzawa Talks

Arsenal have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain full-back Layvin Kurzawa according to RMC Sport.

The 27-year-old has six months left on his contract and so will be available on a free transfer in the summer, though a January move has not been ruled out.

The Gunners are believed to have offered a five-year contract to Kurzawa, who is keen on a move to England.

Arteta Denies Interest In Stones

Mikel Arteta has rubbished linking John Stones with switch to Arsenal.

Reports had claimed that the Gunners were lining up a loan move for the Manchester City centre-back as they looked to ease their defensive woes.

But Arteta has rejected the speculation, telling reporters: "No truth at all.

"John is a player I really like. We followed him before we signed him when I was at City.

"I worked with him for many years, I know him well and when I look at centre-backs he has many attributes I like, but we are not interested in him."

James Maddison In Arteta's wishlist

Gunners targeting Foxes superstar

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has identified Leicester City playmaker James Maddison as his top transfer target for the summer, Football Insider reports.

Maddison, 23, is currently under contract until 2023 with the Foxes and is said to be locked in talks over a new deal with Brendan Rodgers' side.

With Arsenal now joining both Manchester clubs in being credited with an interest in the England international, however, a move to a historically bigger club may be appealing.
