Zaha: My Best Is Yet To Be Seen

The 25-year-old who began his career with Crystal Palace, was signed as a 20-year-old by United in 2013.

His time at the club was, however, unsuccessful as he made just two league appearances.

A return to Palace on a permanent deal was secured in 2015 after loan spells with the Eagles and Cardiff City.

And this season the Ivory Coast international winger has help Palace turn their season around after a difficult start, with four goals and two assists, but with some all-round impressive displays.

Speaking to Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday, Zaha said: "I am a different player to the one that went to Man Utd at 20.

"I am 25 now, I have played a lot more games and I understand what I am better at and what I am not good at and what I need to improve on. The player that went to Man Utd is totally different to now."

He added: "I am just playing good football. I don't feel like I'm in the form of my life, I am just playing well and there is more to come.

"I feel I can improve even more. Last season when we were battling again I managed to score goals and was playing well. Every season I am understanding the game more and the best is yet to come."

Palace travel to Arsenal on Saturday looking for a third successive league win.

Hodgson Praises VAR Despite FA Cup Defeat

The Eagles were knocked out in the third round of the competition after an 87th-minute winner from Glenn Murray earned the Seagulls a hard-fought win at The American Express Community Stadium.

The traveling Palace fans felt hard-done-by when the ball crossed the goalline, as many believed it went in via Murray's hand, but the VAR system was referred to, for the first time in a competitive game in England, and showed that it went in off his knee and the goal stood.

Hodgson admits his initial reaction was that the ball struck Murray's hand, but he was reassured that it was a legitimate goal thanks to VAR.

"We had suspicions," said Hodgson, according to Sky Sports. "I suppose they were fuelled by the reactions of the people close to it.

"They seemed to be incensed, and from our angle it looks as if he's guided the ball in with his arm.

"You've got to congratulate the system: when you watch it lots of times like they've been able to do, from different angles, it would have been very harsh [to disallow it].

"There's still a slight thought it might just have brushed off his arm into the goal, but if it'd been my player scoring that goal, I'd have been very upset if it had been disallowed for handball."

Puncheon in Trouble

Surrey Police has confirmed that 31-year-old Crystal Palace attacker Jason Puncheon has been taken into custody in the early hours of the morning after officers were called to a disturbance in Church Street, Reigate.

Puncheon, who had attended a nearby nightclub prior to the incident, is set to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on January 5 after being released on bail.

He has not played for Palace since the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, having been left out of their last two matchday squads.

"Jason Puncheon of Kingswood, has been charged with a Section 4 public order offence causing fear or provocation of violence, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault," a police spokesman said.
