Klopp: Guardiola Is The World's Best Manager

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists his Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola is the "best manager in the world" and says he has no problem finishing second to the Spaniard.

He said: "I'm lucky that I can say that my teams were at least close to his teams because I've said a lot of times, I think he is the best manager in the world.

"What he is doing with his team is incredible. The way they play, I really like to watch.

"Pep and I, we are different, so our teams mirror our character. He is much finer than I am as a person so he is the gentleman and I look how I look on the touchline. Probably a bit more intense maybe.

"There's no rivalry left or right of football. We respect each other lots but on the pitch we want to beat them, that's normal.

"At the end of the season in most of the seasons he has still won the league. In Germany always, and in England so far as well. That's how it is but I can easily live with that because I have no problem with being second even when I want to be first."

Liverpool currently sit 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League, 14 ahead of City, meaning Klopp is well set to finally triumph over Guardiola.

With a league title looking increasingly likely and alongside last season's Champions League success, Liverpool's current team has the potential to become an era-defining outfit, yet Klopp is unsure they will go on to dominate for years.

He said: "I don't think that something like that is possible still, this kind of domination in periods.

"It's not too long ago that we had the Barcelona of Pep Guardiola dominating pretty much everything.

"Man City dominating the Premier League for the last years since Pep is here at least. They are incredible and they have to fight each week.

"We don't think about ourselves like this. We don't think that somebody has to name us on the same level with any Ajax team, any United teams or other teams in the world.

"We just want to play the best football we can play and we want to have the best time together we can have."

Arsenal Makes a Good Decision choosing Arteta

Unai Emery says Arsenal are making "a good decision" by choosing Mikel Arteta to replace him as manager.

Emery, 48, was sacked last month after an 18-month spell in charge ended with a seven-game winless run.

Former Manchester City assistant boss Arteta has been announced as the new Gunners boss.

"He really is prepared to make that next jump," said Emery.

"He has been at Arsenal before, he's been in the Premier League and he has been working with Pep Guardiola. I do believe this is a good decision and I would also like it to be a good decision."

In his first broadcast interview since leaving Arsenal, Spaniard Emery spoke to BBC Sport's Guillem Balague on a range of topics, including plans to give him a new contract earlier this season, the manner of his Emirates exit, his relationship with Mesut Ozil and interest from Everton.

How it all unravelled - 'We swam up the shore and died on the beach'

The truth is that in the first year I was very pleased and the only thing left for me to do was to put the rubber stamp on the season with a win in the final of the Europa League. In the knockout stages we looked powerful.

And then we played in the final against Chelsea where we had a great first half in a tactical sense, and where, in my opinion, we could have taken control of the game. But Eden Hazard separated both sides in their favour and they won the match.

And in the league we swam right up to the shore and died on the beach.

We effectively lost a top-four finish at home in two games, a draw against Brighton and a loss to Crystal Palace. These happened at a time when we were heavily involved in the Europa League.

There were things that happened that impeded our chances of responding as well as we would have wanted, such as the injuries to Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin and Aaron Ramsey.

But it's true that I was very satisfied with how things went because I believe we learned how to become a team, at times a team that shone, but a team that was effective and competitive, and a team that in general was showing why Arsenal signed me. I believe we achieved that and we just needed to make that final step.

From talk of a new contract to the sack in a matter of weeks

This season, theoretically, we also began well and I had the feeling - and so did the club - that the achievements of the previous season were valued and we were now looking to how we could develop together, even to the point where they were looking to offer a renewed contract.

Then I remember we had one month... At one of the international breaks we were third, and then in the first game after we came back, the frustrations from bad results were beginning to make us worse for the following matches. We were losing confidence, and it's also true to say we were losing a bit of stability.

The game against Sheffield United [a 1-0 win for the Blades in October] was a turning point. In one month everything got broken, and we were incapable of winning a game in seven and the tension based on the question we were asking "What's happening to us" was like a rolling ball that was just getting bigger and bigger.

When that happens the coach is the first person to come into the spotlight. I have lived this at other clubs but I have managed to conquer it by getting the team back on track, but at Arsenal that month was terrible.

'People could see me suffering - my situation had become unsustainable'

I had friends or people at my side who would say to me, "I can see you're suffering," and I said "naturally".

When a coach doesn't win, he suffers. And when he doesn't win two, or three or four he suffers more. We had to win to regain our emotional equilibrium, to get rid of that frustration and we couldn't.

And what is true is the social mass of Arsenal, which is very big, couldn't see it, couldn't connect with what was happening and it is true that in this situation, as happens in every country and with every team, the coach finds himself targeted.

I spoke to the players three or four weeks before the process began to tell them that things were not going well and that I couldn't see the team I pictured on the field of play, I couldn't identify what I was looking for. We looked for solutions but results still didn't come.

The club made its decision and that was passed on to me by Raul Sanllehi (Arsenal's head of football) with much regret because he also felt his share of the responsibility and we were very united... but the situation had become unsustainable as regards to the protests of a section of the fans.

That said, I believe there was another important section who believed we could have been shown more patience and carried on with the project. I think we could have turned things around but I also understand those at the top have to take decisions and take responsibility.

Was the language barrier a major problem?

The language barrier becomes bigger in people's eyes, because of the results. I think if the results had been good things would have gone like the previous season - people would have allowed me to make mistakes, and found my English more acceptable than focusing on my mistakes.

I had a certain level of English simply because I hadn't had the opportunity to develop it more - Id had two years in France with Paris St-German where I concentrated much more on French.

So when I arrived in England the first thing I said to myself is "I have to speak English" and the club not only helped me but also encouraged me to speak English even with all the difficulties, which is why I made that effort.

I have always made this effort from my first press conference, I always spoke to the players in English and I believe progressively I am speaking it better. Communication in football is very important and it has been one of the basic foundations of my success in Spain and France.

Obviously I don't know how far I've got, whether it's at 40% or 50%, I still had a way to go. When the results are not good you have to answer more questions but always on the same line.

Consequently my speech in the first or the second question of press conferences could contain phrases or words to express myself but the third or the fourth or the fifth I found more difficult. As a result I saw this barrier that I had to conquer and I believe that in time I would have done it but clearly I still had a long way to go.

I had conversations with players of 20 minutes or half an hour, practically every week. Individually as well. And when I finished the conversation I went to the delegate of the team and asked if the message had been understood. I wanted to see if the message had gone through, and he always told me "Unai, logically there are things that could be better, but everything is understood".

Was making Xhaka captain a mistake?

The main captains last year were Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal and they all left the team. So the natural leader in the changing room, because of his values and what he represented, was Granit Xhaka.

There was a vote to see if what I felt about him was also felt by the players. And it was.

Circumstances meant Xhaka had a clash with fans [he was booed off the pitch when being substituted during October's home draw with Crystal Palace], but he is the leader that this team needs then and now, because of the values he represents, because of the respect everyone had for him and because of his experience.

A difficult relationship with Ozil?

I've had a lot of conversations with Mesut Ozil. He's a very important player for the team. There are games in which you see Mesut's brilliance, linking with the attack. But also I had to find players around him so he felt comfortable.

Also the team needed to feel solid. And when you, little by little, have to build a team that is aggressive, intense, as well as structured for good pressure, we also had to find a space for Mesut as he gives us an important part of the game, which is his brilliant talent.

To do so I had to find the right connections between players; the right tactics. I was very motivated to try to find that. I wanted Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut to work together, each one of them with their own characteristics.

But there were times when I had to leave one of them out of the XI.

Ozil is a very important player if you can find a way to make it work with other players. He has talent that allows other players to be better, but when you want a bit more aggressive pressure he does not have the best qualities for that.

Interest from Everton - and what next?

Now is the time to go home. To be with my people, to analyse a lot. I'll spend the next few days close to my family, with my coaches. And I've started doing a lot of soul searching.

We all spoke to each other and questioned what we got wrong. There's been interest from teams but I want to just spend some quiet time and choose the right project.

Different teams have expressed interest. To be honest I want to thank them [Everton and others] for wanting me and I told them that I wanted to be quiet, that I need to take a little bit of air. And to choose well the next project after many years of not stopping.

For the moment it is time to rest. That will be good for my mind. To regroup ideas and to analyse mistakes that we may have made. To talk to people around me to ask them what they saw in what I did. I need time for all that. Personally I need to recover energy to start strong the next thing that I will lead.

And I want to take advantage of this conversation to thank Arsenal for the opportunity they gave me to live these moments with them. One bad month will not take that away.

Atlético Madrid Keeping Close Tab On Nemanja Matic

The Serbian midfielder finishes his contract with Mancheser United in June and Atlético see it as a perfect transfer market opportunity, too good to pass up.

Atlético Madrid are keeping eye on Manchester United's midfielder Nemanja Matic who outsee his contract with the club in June. Diego Simeone wants to add a verteran to his midfield squad like Herrera and Felipe and Matic fits the bill.

Di Marzio says the club have upped their pursuit for the 31-year-old though there are other clubs, such as AC Milan, keeping close eye on him too.

Atlético are willing to bring him in during the winter transfer market. The LaLiga side might be faced with a problem, United are not willing to part company with any of their players at such an important time for the club. He has only played in seven games this season, 520 minutes, and didn't play from September to December due to a foot injury.

The other issue is that Atlético need a striker. At the moment, that is the only burning desire Atlético have and everything else is considered secondary. They want a cheap attacker who can score goals since Diego Costa went down with a back injury.

Striker first and everything else after that. But the opportunites that arise in the transfer market have to be taken advantage of and Matic's expiring contract might be too good to turn away from.

Minamino Welcomes Salah & Mane Competition

New signing Takumi Minamino is ready to embrace the challenge of competing with “world-class” Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane for minutes at Liverpool, with a £7.25 million ($10m) deal having been pushed through.

He told Liverpool’s official website of working with Salah, Mane and Co: "Not only them, there are many world-class players here and of course it’s not an easy challenge.

“It’s not easy to overtake those players to get a position but having the mentality of challenging those players is important to keep the team’s high level. That sort of mentality is important for the team and I certainly will play with that mentality.

“I’m looking forward to working with Jurgen Klopp, I think one of my strengths will be to be able to communicate with him in German – because I speak a bit of German – and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I think he is one of the best managers in the world and I always want to improve myself, so it would be great if I could make a contribution to the growth of the team and myself.”

He added: “I’m an offensive player so I always want to assist and score goals.

“I would like to maintain that quality and the number of situations that directly lead to more goals and assists. I think that is my strength, so I would like to show that strength of mine in this team.”

OFFICIAL: Mikel Arteta Returns To The Emirates As Arsenal New Manager

Mikel, a former club captain, played for Arsenal for five seasons from 2011 to 2016 and has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Mikel’s coaching team will be announced as soon as possible.

Josh Kroenke, speaking on behalf of the Arsenal board and our owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing Mikel back to Arsenal.

Coutinho Would Be a Good Option For Manchester United - Kleberson

Manchester United have been urged to make a move for Philippe Coutinho, with Kleberson saying his fellow Brazilian could be a “great asset” for a Red Devils team in need of “a number 10”.

The former Liverpool playmaker has been mooted as a potential transfer target for the Old Trafford side in the past.

Transfer gossip suggested that a move could have been made over the summer, but Coutinho ended up leaving Barcelona for a loan spell at German giants Bayern Munich.

His time in the Bundesliga has not gone entirely to plan, with the 27-year-old still waiting to rediscover the form he showed at Anfield, but his quality remains without question.

Taking that into account, Kleberson says United should be considering a bid to bring the proven performer back to the Premier League.

The former Brazil international, who spent two years with the Red Devils in his playing days, told the Manchester Evening News: “Man United have a good team, but they need a number 10 who will come in and control the game going forward.

Someone who will create chances, control the ball and score goals where possible.

"Many teams in the Premier League have good players going forward, who can score goals but at the moment Manchester United don’t have that.

“Philippe Coutinho would be a good option for United.

I know he has struggled recently at Bayern Munich and before at Barcelona but players like him don’t lose their quality.

He’s a brilliant player and would be a great asset for Manchester United.”

Questions continue to be asked of the options available to Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer With World Cup winner Paul Pogba still nursing an injury, the likes of Fred and Andreas Pereira have failed to provide the required level of inspiration.

Solskjaer has seen his future called into question amid the struggles for consistency, but Kleberson believes the coach will retain the backing he needs.

“He won’t get the sack, but he continues to have a lot of pressure on him," Kleberson added.

“They need to be planning for the future. I don’t like when teams change the managers too quickly as they need time to adjust and implement their plans.

“If they keep hold of Ole, he will have a good team in the future, they will be strong and will have had enough time for the manager to bring in his methods and tactics.

It will be a good opportunity for young players to play in the team, they might bring more players in who could help the team improve.”

He Has Arsenal DNA - Josh Kroenke.

Arsenal have full faith in interim manager Freddie Ljungberg and will not rush into finding a permanent replacement for Unai Emery, according to Josh Kroenke.

Emery was sacked by the Gunners on Friday, paying the price for an awful run of form that has seen the north Londoners tumble down the Premier League standings.

Thursday's defeat in the Europa League at the hands of Frankfurt was the final straw for those in charge at the Emirates Stadium, but Emery's position had already been compromised by a five-game winless run domestically that leaves his former employers now languishing in ninth place.

Into the breach steps Ljungberg, a favourite with the Gunners support as a swashbuckling winger under Arsene Wenger and a member of Emery's backroom staff, as the Spaniard's temporary successor on the bench.

But while a host of names have already been linked with the vacancy, Kroenke is willing to give Ljungberg time to prove himself before making a final decision on appointments.

"First and foremost Freddie has Arsenal DNA," the director, son of billionaire Arsenal owner Stan, told the club's official website.

"Obviously he was a player here for a number of years, the supporters know him very well and he's worked diligently behind the scenes for the past several years, including the last year and a half or so with Arsenal again.

"So it's been great to have him around, he knows the club's DNA and we feel he is the right person in the moment to take the club forward.

"My message to Freddie and the players was let's get back to basics and most importantly let's get back to having some fun. I think footballers are at their best when I see smiles on their faces and going out there and winning matches. That's a winning formula to me."

Emery filled the role left vacant by Arsene Wenger in the summer of 2018 after more than 20 years in charge, but lasted less than 18 months himself.

Kroenke admitted that he regrets having to let the former Valencia and PSG boss go, but did so for the good of the club.

"Like all of our fans and supporters around the globe, we've been concerned about our recent string of performances. We wanted to support Unai and his staff until we decided it was time to make a change and ultimately we came to that decision over the last several weeks as a group between myself, Raul, Vinai and Edu," he added.

"First and foremost Unai is a good man, someone that we all respect very much. His work ethic on a daily basis between him and his staff was fantastic. Ultimately we started to fall short of several goals that we set. We still feel that we can achieve those goals this season, which is why we decided to make the change now."

Ljungberg will take charge of his first game on Sunday, when Arsenal visit relegation battlers Norwich City.

Real Madrid Set to Offer James Rodriguez And a Whooping £70 million To Lure Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Bernabeu

The Colombian midfielder was a huge hit at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and finished as the top scorer with a succession of beautiful strikes.

But since his move to Real Madrid he has failed to perform and hasn't been fancied under several managers.

He was loaned to Bayern Munich last season and now Zinedine Zidane is keen to use him in a player plus cash deal to bag Arsenal's new captain.

The 30-year-old was signed by Arsene Wenger in 2018 and has scored 40 Premier League goals in just 55 starts, including 10 goals in just 16 appearances this term despite Arsenal misfiring.

Reports suggest he is keen to move on in the summer despite being handed the armband at the Emirates after Granit Xhaka's well-documented indiscretions last month saw him stripped of the honour.

Zidane reportedly wants to add Auba to an attacking trio that could rival Liverpool's. Namely Eden Hazard, who moved in the summer, the Arsenal man and PSG's Kylian Mbappe.

His current forward line, which includes the misfiring Hazard and Luka Jovic aren't doing what's required and the Gabonese striker could plug the gap in the Spanish capital.

Rodriguez, 28, has made nine appearances for Real this season, scoring just one goal and Zidane is keen to offload him.

But Marca report that the player would prefer to stay put and try to win back a place in the Madrid team.

Mauricio Pochettino fired at Tottenham Hotspur

During the international break, Mauricio Pochettino has been axed as Tottenham Hotspur manager.

The club sits 14th in the Premier League table, without a win in its last five league games.

“We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste,” the club said in its official statement.

Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing.

“It falls to the Board to make the difficult decisions – this one made more so given the many memorable moments we have had with Mauricio and his coaching staff – but we do so in the Club’s best interests.

Mauricio and his coaching staff will always be part of our history. I have the utmost admiration for the manner in which he dealt with the difficult times away from a home ground whilst we built the new stadium and for the warmth and positivity he brought to us.

I should like to thank him and his coaching staff for all they have contributed. They will always be welcome here. We have a talented squad. We need to re-energize and look to deliver a positive season for our supporters.”

Reports had suggested over the past few days that his position was becoming more and more untenable, but there was no indication that a change was this imminent. The Telegraph reported Monday look Daniel Levy during the international break about the direction and they suggested the game against West Ham United this weekend could be “make or break” for the Argentine.

Pochettino had been with the club since joining in 2014. They reached the Champions League final last season, losing to Liverpool.

Madrid Considering Lewandowski January Move

Real Madrid are reportedly considering an outlandish move for Lewandowski in January transfer window.

The Polish international has been in outstanding form this season and has registered 18 goals in his first 13 appearances of the season for Bayern, including two in Tuesday’s 3-2 victory at Olympiakos.

The news of Madrid’s interest has been reported in the somewhat unreputable media outlet Ok Diario, which is directed by Eduardo Inda of El Chiringuito de Jugones.

It has been said that Zinedine Zidane believes his attack needs more firepower and the former Borussia Dortmund forward t, has been identified as a key target.

The Pole is contracted at €75m - which would be a significant outlay by the club.

A number of players has been linked with the exit door of Los Blancos this January including Isco, Brahim Diaz and Mariano Diaz.

Messi Adds To Champions League History

After scoring against Slavia Praha, Argentine magician Lionel "Merciless" Messi has become the first player in Champions League history ever to score at least once in every 15 consecutive seasons in the European competition.

The 32-year-old Barcelona forward and captain is still on the way to making more histories!

Nigerian Sensation Poised To Join Los Blanco's In The Summer

The future of the Super Eagles is exciting with a lot of new talents available for German Coach Gernot Rohr and Real Madrid is set to make a huge bid worth £40m (N18.4billion) for Villarreal wonder boy, Samuel Chukwueze in the summer.

According to Spanish transfer market website Fichajes, the Los Blancos are planning for the exit of Wales international Gareth Bale, who is strongly linked with a return to the premier league and the Chinese Super League.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger has been regularly linked with a transfer to Manchester United in recent months and saw a move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning fall through at the last minute in the summer transfer window after Zinedine Zidane pulled the plug.

Supercomputer Predicts Final Premier League Table For 2019-20 Season

Supercomputer has predicted how Premier League table for 2019-20 season will finally be.

We are two months into the 2019-20 Premier League season and already, the competition has seen a fair share of twists and turns.

Liverpool FC and the Citizens are at the top of the table right now, with the Reds at the top.

While we are almost certain that Liverpool and City will continue with their dormancy at the top of the table, we are yet to say with certainty as to who will take home the coveted trophy at the end of the season.

Given the nature of the competition, a few other teams are also likely to be in contention for the title of Premier League Champions for 2019-20.

We are also unsure as to how and where the other teams will finish their ongoing campaign.

That being said, TalkSport has claimed that their supercomputer already knows how the final league table will look like, at the end of this season.

Let's have a look on what the super-computer predicted:

20. Newcastle United (relegated)
19. Brighton and Hove Albion (relegated)
18. Watford (relegated)
17. Aston Villa
16. Norwich City
15. Crystal Palace
14. Sheffield United
13. Burnley
12. Wolverhampton Wanderers
11. Southampton

9. Everton
8. West Ham United
7. Leicester City
6. Manchester United
5. Arsenal (Europa League qualification)

English Premier League Golden Boot Has GoneTo The Wire

The Premier League hotshots look like finishing the season level on goals scored - but what happens to the Golden Boot in that situation?

Unlike the World Cup where the Golden Boot is decided by assists if a number of scorers are level, the Premier League instead shares it between the players.

It happened previously when Chris Sutton, Michael Owen and Dion Dublin shared it in 1997-98 and and then again in 1998-99 when Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink, Michael Owen and Dwight Yorke shared the spoils.

This year it looks like we will have three players - Salah, Mane and Aubameyang on 22 goals.

Radamel Is Dead

Ex Chelsea and Manchester United Forward Radamel Falcao has been thrown into mourning after the death of his father.

His father, 61, died after collapsing while playing tennis. Radamel Garcia King was rushed to hospital but passed away in the Mar Caribe Clinic in his home city of Santa Marta in Magdalena, Colombia.

The cause of death was sudden cardiac arrest.

Garcia himself had a playing career, featuring as a defender for Colombian sides Junior de Barranquilla, Independiente Santa Fe, Union Magdalena, Deportes Tolima, Atletico Bucaramanga and Independiente Medellin.

And he represented his country at the 1980 Moscow Olympics as well as featuring for Venezuelan outfit Deportivo Tachira.

The Colombian Football Federation passed on their wishes to the family, sending a message of “solidarity and strength” to Monaco forward Falcao.

Former Newcastle striker Faustino Asprilla was also among those to send his thoughts, posting on social media: “I very much regret the death of your father and I will be with you in your pain from a distance. Sending you a hug my brother and lots of strength.”

Falcao had loan spells at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge between 2014 and 2016. He has scored 32 times in 81 appearances for Colombia.

Pochettino Not Eager On Any January Arrivals

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino does not expect the club "are going to do anything" during the January transfer window.

Spurs completed a 7-0 demolition of League Two side Tranmere in the FA Cup on Friday, meaning they remain in the running to win four competitions this season.

Son Heung-min scored in the rout but will now head off on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup, leaving Pochettino without one of his key performers ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.

Next up is the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final against Chelsea, while their next Premier League fixture sees a rejuvenated Manchester United visit Wembley next weekend.

Spurs did not add to their squad in the previous window and Pochettino dismissed the idea of any new arrivals coming in during this month, too.

"I don't believe that we are going to do anything," he told the media after the cup game.

When asked if he felt his squad was strong enough to cope with such a busy fixture list, the Argentinean added: "I'm so happy with my squad. Always you can improve, different things you can or not."

Fernando Llorente seized the chance to start in the third-round tie, scoring a second-half hat-trick as Tranmere conceded six goals after the break.

The Spanish striker has been linked with a return to his homeland, with former club Athletic Bilbao and Valencia linked, and his deal with Spurs expires at the end of the campaign.

"Yes, it's a six-month contract with the club and we will see what happens," Pochettino said about Llorente's future.

"As I explained for different players, it's not only in our hands, it's what the player wants. Of course, now the window is open we're going to talk."

Pochettino showed no mercy on Tranmere, playing Dele Alli for the full 90 minutes and bringing Harry Kane – who scored the final goal in the rout – off the bench with the score at 6-0.

"It's important for him to score and have 20 minutes playing football," Pochettino said of Kane.

"I think it was important for him and for the team an important victory and to get to the next stage of the FA Cup. It was an important fixture for the club. To be in four competitions is an important thing."

No Need For January signings - Ole Gunnar Solksjaer

Manchester United Interim Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not expect any signings during the January transfer window.

Solskjaer confirmed on Friday he will hold talks with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward over the Premier League club's transfer plans this month.

The centre-back position has been cause for concern after former boss Jose Mourinho tried to sign Leicester City's Harry Maguire and Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld before the start of the season.

Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly and Roma's Kostas Manolas have now been linked with moves to Old Trafford, however, Solskjaer is not anticipating new arrivals in January.

"I'm happy with the squad I've got," Solskjaer said. "I don't expect anyone to come in but obviously if the club have targeted and identified a few and I think they might fit here, I'll give my thumbs up. But it's not just my decision.

"Nobody had to tell me I had loads of talented players [to inherit at United]. I can see that from outside.

"We didn't speak too much about what's been going on, to be honest. It was about seeing what you can do to go back to the way we used to play, the way Man United are supposed to play, exciting football. We're looking a little bit like we want to see the team [we want to see]."

Solskjaer who was appointed until the end of the season after Mourinho's sacking in December has overseen four successive victories.

United will look to maintain their red-hot form when they host Reading in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

Morata Must Deal With Pressure

Alvaro Morata must embrace the weight of expectation at Chelsea as the misfiring forward continues to struggle, according to Gianfranco Zola.

Morata has only managed five goals in the Premier League this season and seven in all competitions amid links with Sevilla and AC Milan.

Chelsea spent around £60million to price Morata from Real Madrid in 2017 but the Spain international has struggled for goals and confidence after a promising start to life at Stamford Bridge.

With doubts over Morata's future in London, assistant coach Zola said the 26-year-old has to deal with the pressure at Chelsea.

"It should be a motivational thing," said Zola. "You are at Chelsea, you are not playing for Southampton or Brighton with all due respect to those clubs.

"People expect a lot from the number nine at Chelsea. They expect a lot of goals and good performances. This is normal, he has to get used to it.

"If he goes to another big club it'll be the same - there is no way you can avoid your responsibilities.

"It's part of your job and if you can handle that then the better you're going to be."

Zola added: "Technically Morata - and this is the reason we invested a lot in him this year - we thought he was the perfect number nine for us.

"Maurizio [Sarri] has always said that. Technically without doubt he is one of the best in this position.

"I think he has to improve a little bit tactically because nowadays with the type of football, football is so organised you need to get better tactically, your ability is not enough.

"In my opinion he needs to improve on this. He's been working on that, he has a good attitude. He feels that he doesn't score enough and he feels a lot of responsibilities for that.

"But he has to learn to put everything behind because these are only burdens that you take on the pitch and they don't help you to perform better."

Real Madrid To Make Offer For Palacios

Real Madrid are set to make a formal offer for River Plate star Exequiel Palacios "in the coming days", according to agent Renato Corsi.

Palacios helped River to Copa Libertadores glory in December and the talented 20-year-old midfielder has been linked with Madrid and LaLiga rivals Barcelona.

River president Rodolfo D'Onofrio last month said Madrid were planning further negotiations to sign Palacios, who made his Argentina debut in September.

And Corsi revealed a transfer to send Palacios to the Santiago Bernabeu is at an advanced stage.

"The leaders of River got together with Real Madrid in Abu Dhabi," Corsi told La Oral Deportiva de Radio Rivadavia.

"In the coming days there will be a formal offer and the operation is quite advanced.

"The family, Exequiel and I want him to go in June and Real Madrid don't have a problem with him staying at River until then."

Corsi added: "Real Madrid want him and supposedly River will sell. They agree, so between Monday and Tuesday the formal proposal will be presented."

Emery Uncertain of Petr Cech Future

Arsenal manager Unai Emery does not know whether veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech will be at the Premier League club next season.

Cech is out of contract at the end of the campaign and the 36-year-old is facing an uncertain future in London.

He has found opportunities limited behind Bernd Leno, having started the season as Emery's first-choice keeper prior to a hamstring injury in September.

Cech is set to start Saturday's FA Cup clash against Blackpool and when asked about the Czech Republic international's future, Emery who played down links with Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas told reporters: "I don't know for now.

"This is a question for the club and the player to deal with.

"But when he played at the start of the season, he did very well. He has very good behaviour, commitment and performance.

Then when he had the injury Leno started playing with a big performance also and then he recovered his position on the bench.

"But I am happy with him. All situations like this, we will speak with the player and with the club but at the moment, I want his focus at the same time, each training, each match.

"He is going to play Saturday to give us his performance and then we are going to decide also within what is the best for him and for the club."
