Erling Haaland Makes History After Being First Player To Score Five Goals in First Two Bundesliga Games

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has made Bundesliga history by becoming the first player to score five goals in his first two matches in the division.

The Norwegian’s feat is made more remarkable by the fact that it has been achieved in just 57 minutes of pitch time, meaning that he is averaging an incredible 7.9 goals per 90 minutes for Dortmund.

Unsurprisingly, his feat of scoring five times in such a short space of time for a new club is also a record.

On both of his appearances, the January arrival from Red Bull Salzburg has come off the bench.

His debut was a 34-minute cameo against Augsburg, in which he hit the headlines by scoring with his very first touch and then going on to grab a treble. His second outing was only a little less remarkable as he struck a double for Lucien Favre’s side in a 5-1 victory over Koln on Friday, in which Raphael Guerreiro, Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho were also on target.

Even before moving to Germany, the 19-year-old had caught the eye for his goal-grabbing exploits in Austria.

He scored 16 times in 14 top-flight matches for Salzburg but perhaps most impressively transferred that level into the Champions League, where he struck eight times in six matches, only failing to net against Liverpool in the final match.

Although Manchester United reportedly snubbed him this month for fears agent Mino Raiola would be the controlling influence in negotiations, the player’s representative has indicated that Haaland could be open to a future move to England.

"I think it was the right move to go to Germany," he said. "Because if you talk about the Premier League and you see the Premier League as the most important point of the pyramid, you need to be careful when you come here.

"I think he's also preparing himself for the best. He's so young that he has time to come."

Dortmund now lie third in the Bundesliga, level on points with Bayern Munich but trailing midseason pace-setters RB Leipzig by four points.

Usain Bolt Set For Dortmund Trial

The 31-year-old hung up his sprinting boots last year, after claiming 11 world titles in his illustrious athletics career, and is now curious to test himself in a different sporting arena.

Bolt's physical talents are without question impressive, but his technical footballing abilities will be put to the test when he goes on trial at the BVB.

The Jamaican also trained with South African Premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns on Monday as he continues his football experiment.

"That is something that I want to do, as you said I have trials with Borussia Dortmund so that's something that is on the table," he said, according to FourFourTwo.

"After the trials, then I can determine if it makes sense to do it or it doesn't make sense. That's what the plan is."

Dortmund are currently enduring a difficult period in the Bundesliga. They have drawn three consecutive games and have consequently dropped down to sixth position in the standings.

Dortmund's Durm Injures Ankle

The 25-year-old only recently recovered from hip surgery and made the matchday squad for the goalless draw with Wolfsburg on Sunday, but he didn't come off the bench.

Durm is still yet to make a Bundesliga appearance this season due to the hip and ankle injuries, and it's unclear when he will be returning.

"The team has already wished him a speedy recovery," Dortmund said in a statement on their official website on Thursday.

The Germany international has been plagued by injuries over the last few years. He made only 13 league appearances last season due to knee surgery, and was also out of action following another knee operation back in September 2015.

Stoger Does Not Understand Aubameyang

Aubameyang has been linked with a January move to Premier League outfit Arsenal, with the club potentially looking to replace Alexis Sanchez, who is likely on his way out.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old was once again suspended by his club for "disciplinary reasons" after he failed to pitch up at an important team meeting ahead of the Wolfsburg clash last weekend.

BVB boss Stoger has been surprised by the star striker's conduct and admits he doesn't know what to make of it.

When asked if he thought Aubameyang would stay at Dortmund, he told Sport Bild: "I assume so."

Stoger was also asked how he felt about the Gabon international, to which he said: "Disappointment is the wrong expression.

"Rather a lack of understanding as I cannot really comprehend his conduct. And I am certainly not the only one."

Stoger Wouldn't Mind Longer Dortmund Deal

The 51-year-old took over the reins at BVB in December, after the sacking of Peter Bosz, but was only given a contract until the end of the current season.

However, after leading Dortmund to two victories in their last three Bundesliga games, the Austrian admits he would consider a longer stay at the club.

"I'll try to take my chance and then we'll see what happens," Stoger told Sport Bild.

"If I am successful – but do not remain – I would probably have good opportunities afterwards. If everything fits, I'll stay.

"I'm in a really happy phase here. Instead of doing nothing, I can coach Borussia Dortmund for six months."

Aubameyang Agrees Arsenal Personal Terms Ahead of Proposed Transfer ( The Mirror

The Mirror reports that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has agreed personal terms with Arsenal - leaving the ball in Borussia Dortmund's court.

The Gunners want to sign the Gabonese hitman to replace Alexis Sanchez who is set to leave the Emirates in the coming days, with Manchester United his most likely destination.

And Mirror Football understands terms have been agreed with Aubameyang determined to force through the move after he was banished from the team for disciplinary reasons at the weekend.

The forward has told Dortmund there is no coming back from the incident which saw him miss their goalless draw with Wolfsburg on Sunday - his third internal suspension in just over 12 months.

Aubameyang has established himself as one of Europe's premier marksmen over the last few seasons and has been in incredible form in front of goal this term.

He has netted 13 times in just 15 Bundesliga outings adding another eight strikes in all competitions.

Aubameyang Tempting Atletico

28-year-old Dortmond striker Aubameyang has made his intentions clear in the past about wanting to further his career elsewhere as he continues his incredible goalscoring form for the Bundesliga club.

Atletico's transfer ban has officially come to an end and they are currently in the market for an attacker to partner Diego Costa with Antoine Griezmann expected to leave the Spanish capital.

Aubameyang denied claims he has signed a new deal with BVB and suggested an exit may be on the cards.

Everyone knows that Atletico Madrid are looking for players around the world," the Gabon international told Ouest-France.

"I think that [Antoine] Griezmann could leave and many things could happen, everything could happen.

"I have not signed [a contract renewal at Dortmund], that's not true. The market is open, also for me."

Despite Dortmund's struggles this season, Aubameyang has netted 21 times in 23 games across all competitions.

Aubameyang Extends Contract With Borussia Dortmund

Pierre Aubemayang has extended his contract. The Gabonese international has committed himself to another three-and-a-half years at the club, signing a new deal which will keep him till 2021.

However, Zorc has admitted that the agreement doesn't mean Aubameyang will spend the rest of his career at Signal Iduna Park and he expects the marksman to make at least one more move before hanging up his boots for good.

"The contract runs through to '21," Zorc told Sky. "That's still a long way away.

"One day, he will certainly leave Borussia Dortmund - he won't end his career here. He's an extremely important player for us, and we continue to plan with him."

Aubameyang has been in prolific form again this season, scoring 21 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund.
