COVID 19 Disrupts Arsenal Top Target Move

Dusan Vlahovic's move to the gunners this January transfer to Emirates or White Heart Lane may have been complicated by a positive Covid-19 case for the striker.

The Serbian international has been strongly linked with a move to North London, with Arsenal tipped to be the favourites to land the striker, having put him as their top transfer target this winter.

Mikel Arteta is said to be on the lookout for a new forward, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out-of-contract in the summer and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future at the club no clearer.

As for Tottenham, they are said to be looking for another potential striker that could play alongside Harry Kane, rather than replace him should he leave amid Man City links.

21 year old Vlahovic, has been linked with both sides as well as a number of top European clubs, including Serie A side Juventus.

His record speaks for itself at such a young age, already scoring 17 and assisting four times in 21 league appearances this season. He also equalled Cristiano Ronaldo's record of most goals scored in a calendar year in the Serie A in 2021 with 33 scored across the 12 month period.

However, his current deal at Fiorentina expires in 2023, with the forward showing little desire to renew and instead looking to move on.

Any potential move this month has been given a slight complication, with the forward reportedly contracting Covid-19.

A club statement from Fiorentina ahead of their match with Cagliari said: "Two members of the team group – both vaccinated and asymptomatic – tested positive for COVID-19 today.

"The club has initiated all the procedures required by protocol and notified the authorities."

Journalist Fabrizio Romano states that Vlahovic is one of the two players to have tested positive.

Italy’s latest Covid guidelines means that anyone who has tested positive can leave isolation after seven-to-10 days including the return of a negative test.
