Hummels Close to United move

With two weeks gone since this transfer window opened, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is yet to announce his first big move.

The Red Devils have made their first winter move of Victor Valdes on a free transfer but are yet to make any big move.
After the departure of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, United are suffering in the defence despite of signing Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw. They are yet to sign a World Class centre-back who can replace any of the United former captain.

The recent reports have revealed that Dortmund star Mats Hummels is now moving closer to United day by day. According to Daily Mirror, this move is in the pipeline.
Hummels has no reason to deny United as they are favourite to get the Champions League spot and Dortmund sitting in the relegation zone in Bundesliga.

If the Red Devils fail to get Hummels this month then it will be difficult for them in the summer as other big giants could show interest.
United are also linked with Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne and Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman but both will not be available this month. Van Gaal will have to wait till the summer to secure their services.
