January Arrivals Unlikely - Emery

The Ligue 1 leaders currently hold a nine-point gap over second-placed AS Monaco after 18 rounds and impressed during their Champions League group stage matches - edging Bayern Munich to top-spot in Group B.

After scoring 25 goals in the six group games, PSG have been tipped as favorites for the elite club competition due to their attacking force of Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Neymar, although without veteran Thiago Motta due to injury Les Parisien have lacked cover in the defensive midfield role.

However, 21-year-old midfielder Giovani Lo Celso stepped in with good effect with a composed display alongside Julian Draxler and Marco Verratti in the 4-1 victory over in-form AS Rennes on Saturday,

"When a player like Thiago Motta is absent, a pure defensive midfielder, well perhaps that's a position where we could improve," he told the club's website after failing to secure a clean sheet for the fifth successive fixture. "I say that even if those who have filled in have done well, like Giovani Lo Celso on Saturday.

"For now we have no reason to sign anybody in the winter window. We have seven midfielders and in recent weeks when Thiago Motta and Adrien Rabiot have been hurt, Giovani Lo Celso has performed well."

PSG have been strongly linked with Wendel of Fluminense over the last two months but their sporting director Antero Henrique reiterated Emery's comments in an interview posted in Le Parisien on Monday.

"Wendel is a player we know very well, but he won't come in January. If we decide to conclude the transfer it will be for July."
