Wenger Targeting A SuperStar

Arsenal are still seriously in the market for right-back options this summer as boss Arsene Wenger is set to make a bid for Argentine international right-back Gino Peruzzi, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Gunners have already signed Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle to replace the Manchester City moved Bacary Sagna, and are also said to be closing in on Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo.

They already have 22-year old Carl Jenkinson waiting in the wings as a young backup option as well, and one cannot see why Wenger would want another right-back in his squad this season.

Peruzzi, 22, currently plays for Italian club Catania and has 4 national team caps for Argentina. Although he only recently moved to Europe from his home club Velez Sarsfield, the youngster is reportedly very highly rated in Italy and has evidently caught Wenger’s eye.

One cannot help but think that Peruzzi is a fall-back option for Arsenal if their move for Manquillo falls through as they cannot possibly have upto 3-4 right-backs competing for one slot in the team.

Should Arsenal make an official offer for Peruzzi, 15 percent of any transfer fee would go to Velez Sarsfield, according to various reports.
