Arsenal 5-1 Benfica: Player Ratings

Martinez (7): Showed great awareness to come out for the ball atimes. Solid from crosses. Made a great save late in the first half. Nothing he could have done about the goal.

Chambers/Monreal (6.5): The experimental pairing rarely looked out of place. Stood well against everything Benfica threw at them.

Gibbs (7): As usual a typical Gibbs, efficient with minimal fuss.

Bellerin (8): Assured in possession, demonstrated by a mazy run inside 12mins. Attacked the right really well all game and impressed greatly.

Flamini (6): Committed a couple of fouls early on, but he did a pretty good job of protecting the back two.

Rosicky (7): Looked to be the ochestrator, connecting the dots and at the centre of our attacking play.

Ramsey (8): Tried to impose himself on the game but it did not come off. Fashioned a great chance which Campbell could not convert. Picked up an assist for Sanogo. Instrumental in the 3rd goal.

Chambo (5): Subdued performance early on but turned up the heat as the hald drew to a close.

Sanogo (9): For all of his effort, he looks lost whenever he has a chance to score. took his first goal well with a nice flick. Got his hattrick before the HT whistle. Added another early in the 2nd half. Boy, what was that celebration about?

Campbell (8.5): Could have had a penalty early on. Full of direct running and strength on the ball drifting from left to right. Decision making not the best but he’ll get there. Took his goal really well. Notched 2 assists too.

Alexis (10): Came on for the biggest cheer of the day. I’m starting to believe we’ve actually signed him.

Coquelin: Won too many misplaced passes. Had an effort come off against the upright. I want him to succeed at Arsenal but that looks highly unlikely.

All in all it was a nice run out for the lads. Another game tomorrow. Here’s to more of the same.
