Arsenal Face Tough Task For Midfield Target From Rivals

The future of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin remains uncertain as Spurs prepare a third bid for the Frenchman also being targeted by Arsenal, according to the Mirror.

So far Spurs have been rebuffed in any approach for Schneiderlin as their new manager Mauricio Pochettino wants a reunion with his former player at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino managed the 24-year-old for 16 months at St Mary’s and views him as the ideal purchase to come in an bolster his Tottenham squad.

However, having already sold Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers this summer the Saints are desperate not to lose any more key stars.

Arsene Wenger has also shown a keen interest in Schneiderlin as the 64-year-old has openly admitted he wants a holding midfielder to come in and support the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere in the middle.

The Gunners have turned to the France international having seen the chances of signing Sami Khedira from Real Madrid slip away in recent times.
