Khedira To Arsenal Deal Is Still Alive

Spanish Newspaper Sport has a story that will be appealing to the ears of Arsenal fans, Sami Khedira is despairing. The Real Madrid playmaker faces one of the hardest points of his career should he chose to remain at the Spanish caiptal, however with his wage demands seemingly keeping him off from making a great move, or rather clubs making a move for him – he faces a bleak future.

While Sport reports that interests for the German defensive midfielder has been around for a while now, the overstatement of his own value coupled with a huge wage tag will keep Arsenal and Chelsea waiting on the wings with a hope that it would drop towards the end of the transfer window. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

While another Madrid based paper AS reports Arsenal are Khedira’s preferred choice, he is concerned at the Londoners reluctance to make a move for him.

Madrid are wary of losing Sami for nothing come 2015, perhaps the reason why a 10 Million Pound offer wouldn’t be hard to resist at the first or second time of asking.

Khedira is seemingly encouraged by both clubs to make a move elsewhere, especially after turning down several offers of a contract renewal – makes perfect sense.

New arrival Toni Kroos; along with old faces – Luka Modric, Xabi Alonso and Asier Illaramendi make it extremely difficult for Khedira to hustle for a place in the first team.

Does Arsenal need him or not? Yes

Arsenal need a player of Khhedira’s status and command. It’s no longer a secret – Wenger’s men have a great problem in defensive midfield and with no proper options, the season might be gruelling should a signing not be made in this area.

Basically, 10 Millon Pounds and 3.5 Million in wages shouldn’t’t be something Arsenal worry about now. The rough patch is way behind them, a new era seems to have dawned at the Emirates.

Wenger certainly wants to add silverware to the FA Cup triumph last season, and what a better way to do that than by strengthen this position.

With Champions League football at stake too, Wenger needs an experienced and trusted player who can protect his back two – If needed, and even his back four.

Khedira has proven this over and over again at Madrid, it’s unfortunate he finds himself in this situation, on the contrast, Wenger is fortunate, he shouldn’t let this opportunity pass him.

Another sign of seriousness Wenger has shown this season is the need for a proper medical and physio team to deal with the injuries. As Shad Forsythe comes into the picture, so as another year to work with Khedira is welcome.

The reasons, opportunity and chance for Wenger to finally lay claim to perhaps his biggest prize of the summer must be here, if it aint here, then Khedira’s is.
